Impregnated diamond core bits are made of high-quality synthetic diamond grits mixed uniformly through a metal matrix and reinforced with cemented carbide and diamond. It is used for cutting medium to extra hard formations. Impregnated diamond bits are used in a variety of ground surfaces from crushed and highly abrasive to fine-grained, consolidated, and super-hard rock. Impregnated diamond bits are designed to be used as grinding machines with diamond embedded in an infiltrated or sintered matrix. As the diamond wears and rounds, the matrix is eroded at the same rate, so new sharp diamonds are exposed, continuing to cut through the rock.
